This house was first built in the 1400’s and was surrounded by the forest of Arden. It got its name from a Saxon, Baeddi, who first cleared the site of the forest, the De Clinton family then dug the moat in the 13th Century. In 1438 it was then bought by John Brome who then passed it down generations to the Ferrers family who built much that is seen today.
MBL provided a modern locking solution to the Tudor gate house door. Criteria were manufacture a modern lock to the existing size of the original so that we could use the existing fixing holes. In doing so it means the locking is completely reversible, so the historic lock can be re-installed from stores.
